Short version: use Maxie to keep track of your baby, be decent about it, and understand that it is a young app made by a small team. Nothing here takes away rights you have under Australian law.
Who we are
Maxie is made and operated by Kaizen Ikigai Pty Ltd, ABN 26 680 252 484 (placeholder, to be confirmed before launch), in Sydney, Australia. "We", "us" and "Maxie" in these terms mean Kaizen Ikigai Pty Ltd. Contact: hello@getmaxie.app.
1. Using Maxie
You need to be 18 or over to create an account. Maxie is for parents and carers recording information about a baby in their care. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account.
2. Your data is yours
The records you enter belong to you and the carers in your household. We store and sync them so the app works, and we do not use them for advertising, sell them, or train models on them. See the privacy policy. You can delete everything at any time. See delete your account.
3. Your baby's health information
The records you enter about your baby are health information, and therefore sensitive information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Every one of them is entered by you or another carer in your household. None of it is collected from the child, inferred, or bought in from anywhere else. We never sell, rent or share them with advertisers or any other third party, they are stored in Australia on Supabase's Sydney region, and you can delete them at any time, wholly, including your account. Deleted data is purged, not archived. The full clause is in the privacy policy; see also delete your account.
4. Sharing with other carers
When you invite someone into your household, they can see and change every record for that baby, and add more. Only invite people you trust. Codes expire after 24 hours; the person who created the household can remove members.
5. Not medical advice
Maxie is a record-keeping tool. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose anything, and it does not give medical advice. Growth percentiles come from published WHO growth standards and are shown for reference only. Always talk to your midwife, child health nurse, GP or paediatrician about your baby's health, and call 000 in an emergency.
6. Fair use
Please do not try to break into other households' data, scrape or overload the service, resell it, or use it for anything unlawful. We may suspend an account doing any of that.
7. The app is a work in progress
Maxie is provided as-is. We do our best to keep it running and your data safe, but we cannot promise it will never be unavailable, never lose a sync, or never have a bug. Keep your own note of anything critical. Features may change or be removed as the app develops.
8. Australian Consumer Law
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms limits those rights. Beyond what the law requires, our liability for any claim relating to Maxie is limited to resupplying the service or refunding what you have paid us for it (which, on the free tier, is nothing).
9. Price and the free core
The core of Maxie is free, for every carer in a household: logging feeds, nappies, sleep and growth, sharing with the carers you invite, the charts, and exporting your data. We will not charge for any of these, move them behind a payment, or add advertising. There is no trial and we never ask for a card.
If Maxie is ever sold, closed or changed in a way that affects you, we will give at least 60 days' notice on the website and in the app, and your data will stay exportable for that whole period.
10. Ending it
You can stop using Maxie and delete your account whenever you like. We may close an account that breaches these terms, and we will tell you why unless the law stops us.
11. Changes and governing law
If we change these terms materially we will let you know in the app or by email before it takes effect. These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
